Some suburbs are so big and so varied that to understand them properly we need to think of them as 4 different suburbs.

Some examples are Bondi, Maroubra, and Marrickville. In the case of Bondi fortunately it has been divided up into Bondi Junction, North Bondi, and Bondi Beach … and unofficially Bondi Heights (think Bondi Rd and the streets coming off it). But in the case of Maroubra its just all Maroubra … with only descriptions (eg. “West of Anzac Parade”) to distinguish one part from a fundamentally different part.
